Born in a suburb outside of Stockholm, Sweden, Madlain Vander, grew up with artistic parents. Her father was a boat builder and whimsical furniture maker. Her German born mother specialized in French Aubusson tapestries and German Egg art. By age 18 she relocated to the U.S. Midwest and choose all her elective credits in art. She seriously pursued an art career 5 years ago when a friend asked her to paint a mural.
